Must-Haves for Summer

Must-Haves for Summer
Wide Brim Hat
Since I was a baby, I’ve worn hats all the time. Maybe it’s because I have really thin hair, maybe it’s because I looked really cute in hats… We’ll never know. The important thing is that hats, specifically one with wide brims, will protect you from the sun! While heat and getting tan is great, UV rays are very very dangerous and if you can prevent your head, face and shoulders from getting burned with just a hat, you should probably wear a hat.
Bathing Suit
Having a good bathing suit for the summer seems very self-explanatory. But there’s a catch – you need a good bathing suit that you feel amazing in. Bathing suits are the one item of clothing women seem singularly uncomfortable wearing, so if you can find even one that you’re comfortable in, then by all means buy twenty versions of it in every color.
Yes, water. Yes, you can get it anywhere. Reusable water bottles or throwaway. As long as you stay hydrated, the other stuff doesn’t matter. As someone who forgets to drink water (oops) but needs at least eight glasses of water a day (big oops) I know that this is super duper important so please try to drink a lot of water!
Good Sneakers
No, you don’t have to exercise to need good sneakers. In fact, sneakers are phenomenal for many things, like traveling, exploring, hiking, walking around, sitting in bed or trying the athleisure look.
Beach Bag
There is nothing better than going to the beach with yo girls. Except going to the beach with yo girls and yo camera and yo beach towel and yo water and everything else you may need.
PICTURES! YAY! As a huge fan of Instagram (@emmahavi, @alkalineandchrome, #shamelesspromo) I understand that you need to take iPhone snaps and get them uploading and edited real quick. But having a camera to take pictures either for fun or for trying photography or for spontaneous photoshoots can be real good too.
Sunglasses are my fave. Have I told you guys that? They really really are. You’d be hard pressed to find a pair of sunglasses that I would turn down. Right now my favorite pair is from H&M, but I just got two pairs from Express that I’m excited about so the rankings may shift real soon. Anyway, the point is that sunglasses protect your eyes from UV rays and from getting wrinkles in the future. They also make seeing a lot easier and look super cute. So I’d suggest investing in some sunnies. I wouldn’t suggest buying expensive ones though, because sunglasses always break or get lost and that’s a waste of money.
Picnic Blanket
Ok, so to be entirely honest I haven’t yet gotten a picnic blanket, and I’m using an old charlie brown sheet as a makeshift one right now. The great thing about picnic blankets is that they work for the beach or the park or your living room (if you don’t want to go outdoors). has some that are super duper cute if you want you should go check that out.
